Christmas Elf

It’s been a while since my last update. I’ve been attending life drawing classes, but I didn't want to share the results here to respect privacy of the models. Here I have something in a similar style to my class drawings. I know the subject is a bit late for Christmas. The drawing started on Christmas Eve, but took a while to finish. It’s my first try with open source painting program called Krita.

When painting it’s quite easy to do certain shortcuts such as avoid painting difficult parts by placing them into shadow. With drawing you cannot do that, which forces you to learn. I’m planning to use the drawing as a part of a painting to see if a solid drawing also results into better paintings.

Although the character design is my own, you might see some influence from Jean-Babtiste Monge and Mauri Kunnas.
